Vince Asaro is the Assistant Pastor at Cornerstone Ministries.
Pastor Vince was born in 1938 and raised in San Francisco. In his sophomore year, the family moved to Gardena, CA. After high school he went on to Whittier College and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a California Teaching Credential. Soon after graduation in 1960, he was drafted into the Army for 2 years.
When released from the service he began a teaching and coaching career in Orange County. The majority of his 14 year career was spent teaching Physical Education and coaching football, wrestling, and track at Edison High School in Huntington Beach. Although raised as a Baptist, he had not attended church since leaving high school approximately 17 years earlier. While at Edison he met Patty Heffern a Physical Education teacher on staff and was introduced to Calvary Chapel and Pastor Chuck Smith. Approximately a year after fully submitting his life to the Lord Jesus he and Patty were married by Pastor Chuck and opened their home to a high school Bible study which eventually outgrew the house and had to move. During this time their 2 sons Joel, and David, were born. The family became very involved with Calvary Chapel’s Children’s Ministry under the direction of Mike Mitchell. When Mike took the Pastoral oversight of Maranatha Christian Academy at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, he invited Vince to join him as a Vice Principal at the school, a position he held for 3 years.
In 1980 Vince and Patty were asked to come to Calvary Chapel Napa to direct the Children’s Ministry. Here they continued in Christian Education, teaching at the Napa Valley Christian School until it closed.
Vince and Patty began attending Cornerstone under Pastor Bill in 1993 while it was still a small church, meeting in an A frame building on Homewood St. After moving the services over to the Adventist Church building the Lord began to bless Vince’s counseling ministry and service to the church and he was ordained by Cornerstone in February of 2000. Since that time he continues to serve along side of Pastor Bill, as the church has grown, and the ministry opportunities have multiplied by God’s grace and blessings.
