How We Started
In March of 1991, Pastor Bill was contacted and asked about starting a new church in Napa. Pastor Bill visited Napa every other weekend, got to know the people, shared the word, and discussed the possibility of a new church with a home fellowship that then existed.
After many weekend trips, a family vacation in July of 1991, and much prayer, the decision was made for Pastor Bill to leave his position as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, and move to Napa to start the new church.
Cornerstone started in September of 1991, and our first Sunday morning service was held on October 6, in the living room of the Walden home. Children's ministry was in one of the bedrooms. Those were challenging and exciting days.
As Time Goes By
Over the years, the church has slowly but steadily grown numerically and spiritually.
Cornerstone has been a church on the move, having met in the Walden home, a nightclub (the old Marlowe's on Imola), Bel Aire Elementary School, a little church chapel located on 101 Homewood, the Napa SDA church on G and Brown Street, Calvary Baptist Church on Laurel Street, and presently, we meet at the Living Vine Church of the Nazarene, on Linda Vista Ave.
We currently lease from the Living Vine Church, and will be at this location at least until 2013.
